NAME: Leigh AGE/GRADE: 17, Senior INSTRUMENT: Percussion HOMETOWN: Ayer, MA SCHOOL: Boston University Academy ENSEMBLE(S): BYS YEARS IN BYSO: 5 FAVORITE BYSO MEMORY: Playing in Symphony Hall for the first time and feeling like I was famous. FAVORITE PIECES PLAYED W/ BYSO: Nielsen Aladdin Suite, Dvorak 8, Dukas The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Strauss Ein Heldenleben ACTIVITIES/HOBBIES: Sailing, Cartography Club FUN FACT: I eat a tuna sub at least once a week. FAVORITE FACULTY MEMBER: Mark Miller WHY BYSO? I joined BYSO only about a year after I started percussion, and by throwing me in to four different orchestras in the first two years, I’ve learned a lot about self-organization and adaptivity (and counting rests). The ability to juggle music, instruments, and orchestras has had its applications in school, sports, and really everything. WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? Daphnis and Chloe in Symphony Hall!
