Boston Youth Symphony
BYSO’s premier orchestra performs full symphonic repertoire and operas in prestigious venues across Boston and the world.
Repertory Orchestra
A full symphonic orchestra exploring music of the Classical period to develop specific performance and musical phrasing techniques.
Junior Repertory Orchestra
A full symphonic ensemble exploring harmony, pulse and rhythm through singing, body percussion, and critical listening exercises.
Young People’s String Orchestra
An energetic and collaborative ensemble performing major repertoire from the standard string orchestra literature.
Preparatory Winds
An ensemble of winds, brass and percussion where students work on orchestral style music in preparation for the full symphony orchestras.
Petit Ensemble
A small orchestra for string players to develop ensemble playing skills, and musical interpretation as well as, rhythm development, music theory, and practice skills through a variety of musical styles.
Intensive Community Program
A rigorous instrumental training program removing the financial and cultural accessibility barriers that prevent underrepresented students from auditioning and participating in high-quality musical opportunities.
